Karen Martin always knew the answer lay in science, but just wasn't sure about the question.
For five long years she stared into a microscope looking for evidence of how the behaviour of a single cell might be responsible for triggering chronic disease, but changed direction when the idea of blaming a single cell didn't hold all the answers.
Without being fully aware of what she was doing, she was letting her instinct guide her towards a more holistic approach. Still holding onto her scientific roots she virtually stumbled into an area that 20 years ago was little acknowledged by the scientific community. “At that time, naturopathy was considered very “alternative” and was associated more with commune lifestyles than with legitimate healthcare practices,” she recalls.
