One day, early in her time at Zonge Engineering, Kelly Keates visited a mining site camp and walked into the mess hall for a meal when one of the men came up to her and said: “You're Kelly, aren't you?” Kelly was suitably impressed, “How did you know?” she asked. It was one of those lightbulb moments as Kelly looked around and realised she was the only woman in the hall! Over the years she has got used to her only woman status, as she rose through the ranks of Zonge Engineering to become first general manager and finally the owner.
