Being a farmer as well as a farmer's wife during one of the driest periods in recorded history is not a prospect that would gladden the heart of many girls.
But when Yvette Zus Schepel teamed up with Gary to add Frahn to her already challenging name, it set her on a path of discovery and joy.
“Starting out in our relationship, Gary outlined his dreams and ambitions wanting to know if I would be part of them. I asked him if he was prepared to give up farming to be an artist's husband! He said he was, so we had the basis of a great future,” says Yvette only partly in jest.
What has evolved is the dream of one person who, by pulling together a community under duress, is injecting hope where there is often despair. And she's doing it all through art.
